My students attend the only Early Childhood School in our huge district. We are a Pre-K through 1st grade building. We are an inner city school and a Title I School. Most of our students are on free or reduced price breakfast and lunch. Many of our students qualify for food from the food bank so they won't go hungry over the weekend. My parents are hard-working and love their children dearly. Life excites my class. My children know that when they go home, learning doesn't stop. My district requires homework for every student every night and 90% of my students turn it in every week. Our school provides two classes a year to teach parents how to help their children learn using inexpensive materials. I asked each child at Christmas what would they wish for. Not one of my students said toys.They all wanted clothes, shoes, or books. These children have a desire to learn and to succeed in school.
