The students in Experience Based Career Education (EBCE) at the Arlington Career Center come from a variety of backgrounds and have disparate interests and skills. They have two things in common: all struggle with some sort of disability and all are preparing to leave school and enter the next stage of their lives. It's a challenging - and often scary - time. EBCE strives to help the students face these challenges with grace by helping them discover their skills through community internships which ease them into the adult world, through individual support when it's needed, and by giving them the opportunity to serve others whenever possible. The herb garden has become one of these opportunities. Soon after the first seeds were planted, the students started talking about who they wanted to share the first harvest. Adults invited to the holiday potluck luncheon were treated to fresh-picked parsley on the mashed potatoes and beaming smiles on the faces of the gardeners
