Through exposing students to diverse differences, we create a climate of acceptance and support of others and their unique strengths they bring to our classroom. When students have been shown and been given permission that it is safe and ok to ask questions or share thoughts, our room transforms from just students at desks to a bonded little family where we look out for each other and build each other up to be our best selves. Our learning environment is one where we are comfortable to make mistakes and seek help. Not only will these conversations and lessons created through our new read alouds serve these students this school year, they will follow and metamorphosize as they grow into adults.
