Our students are amazing. Through the disruptions they cause in classrooms and their glazed eyes and tapping feet, through their aggression or confusion on the playground and in class, they are pleading: "We need a lot of help. We need you to understand how to teach us effectively, so that we succeed. We need you to harness and challenge our powerful energy." In our classroom we celebrate diversity. Our student population is composed of 75% Hispanic, 21% Caucasian, 3% Native American, and 1% other minority children. 70% of our population speaks a language other than English as their primary language. Approximately 95% of our students qualify for the free and reduced lunch program. Our mobility rate exceeds 44% as 50% of our population moves two or more times during the year. Those students who remain in school for the full school are working to develop English language skills
