I teach in Michigan and my students struggle with huge issues like poverty, incarcerated family, and gang violence every day, but they come to school because they know they are safe and loved. We are a Title One school that works hard to give our kids things they don't normally get at home. I am in an urban area of mostly African American students. My students are determined to be successful in life, and they work hard to overcome the obstacles life has thrown their way. Won't you help us?
