I have a class of 32 6th grade students who are econmically disadvantaged. They attend a Title 1 school, where we have over 95% free and reduced lunch. My class is very upset with the way their neighborhood looks. There is trash, glass, broken bottles and graffiti all over the community. So they asked me, how they can make a difference! My class started a school wide recycling program recycling paper and milk cartons. We are in the process of taking our ideas and moving them into the community. We have teamed up with SRP, to provide recycling bins in the community. I am now in the process of teaching my class how they personally impact our world and the ways they can reduce, reuse and recycle.
