Many of my kids come to me below grade level. We work hard all year long. The majority of my students don't travel outside of the area in which they live. I want to bring the world to them. We travel though literature and history. My school is in a high poverty area. Most of the students don't even have school supplies unless I buy them. When things are hard at home it can be a challenge to want to excel in school. I want to help them stay motivated and see the future can be bright. Getting kids excited to be at school is critical to their future success. Sometimes the kids in my district feel like they are destined to stay in poverty. My dream is for them to see that education is the path to greatness.
