In order to meet my students' varied needs, the materials I provide them need to be engaging and help them connect to what they're learning. When charts, reading passages, graphic organizers, and center materials are printed in color it brings them to life! I use a lot of color in my teaching; highlighting and using color to annotate texts, to demonstrate the steps needed to solve a problem, and just to make learning more engaging. We are currently learning about Non-Fiction Text Features and one of the tasks we'll complete includes a scavenger hunt to find these features. Providing materials to my students that are printed in color makes them highly engaging - especially highly detailed science related texts with animals. Because my students are at varied levels we don't have one text book that meets all of their needs. Printing different text resources in color, from my classroom would be an invaluable tool!
