My students attend a public charter middle school in an inner city. Most are low income, and many are recent immigrants escaping violence in their country of origin. The art program is in its second year and I was hired last year to develop it. I have a new art classroom this year, complete with many broken windows and little heat as the winter approaches, but I am working to get all the materials and supplies I need to provide the best instruction possible. The parents wanted art for their children and the students are enthusiastic and hard working.
