My first graders attend a city public school. I set very high expectations for the boys and girls in the class. In this intregrated co-teaching class, I work hard to meet the needs of the special education and general education students at the same time. Most of them come from poverty stricken homes, where they do not own books. Our classroom library may be the only library to which they are exposed! That's why it is so important to build up the library in my classroom with exciting, age-appropriate books.
