Many of my students are soft-spoken and lack confidence in speaking to groups. The Qball is a fun way to practice speaking by talking into the ball (a wireless microphone) and then tossing the ball to another student. Not only will classmates be able to hear what the student is saying the student will also hear their voice projected. My students take an annual assessment to assess their English skills in the areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening. The speaking score is the lowest it's been in years. This is due in part to the fact that students have to speak into a microphone. They are uncomfortable with speaking and hearing their own voice. The Qball would be a great tool in helpings students practice speaking and answering questions. The Qball will allow the students to work on the speaking skills needed to do well on their assessment. The Qball would be used in the writing classroom grades 6th threw 8th. Students will be able to share their thinking and writing assignments with confidence. Students will be better prepared for their assessment threw the use of this ball.
