"Making sure all our students get a great education, find a career that's fulfilling and rewarding, and have a chance to live out their dreams wouldn't just make us a more successful country, it would also make us a more fair and just one." (Bill Gates) I chose to teach elementary school because there is strong data and evidence which demonstrates that success in elementary school is a key determinant of high school graduation and subsequent college enrollment. ALL students have the ability to achieve when they are held to high expectations and given the resources to learn. Each student in my classroom is a person who can and will grow up and be a contributing member of society, and it is my job to ensure that they leave my classroom with the skills necessary to do so.
