The students in both design classes at Rowland High School are driven young men and women anxious to secure a future in the fields of technology. While engineering and design classes are not mandatory, these students willingly take them to better their futures by learning essential skills that will be advantageous later in their education and in their future careers. They work both hands-on and academically: creating drawings, compiling portfolios, designing models, and developing projects dependent on the class. Rowland High School acknowledges the need for advanced education and provides what it can in its elective Design and Technology program. In the class these high school students are taught a college freshmen year curriculum, become familiar with programs such as AutoDesk Inventor, and learn as well as apply skills for drafting and manual construction.
