Reading and writing are difficult tasks. Imagine how much fun it would be to write and illustrate about what you are learning and then see it printed out so it can be shared. I would love to have my students be able to print out their own informational text with their own pictures and share their work with the class. First graders learn best when creating and using the skills they learn in a motivational way. A colored printer will help my students become more fluent in reading and writing because it will be used to print their personal narratives and informational texts. Being able to print out/publish their work will be motivating. They will be able to hold their project and share with their friends and families. Worksheets can also be printed in color to help them navigate and understand instructions more clearly. Bright colors make learning more fun for first grade students than boring black and white worksheets.
