I have a class full of bright, wonderful, special, and important children. Many of them come from disadvantaged situations. Despite this fact, all of my students are very hungry to learn and be loved, and all of them are very hardworking. I always have a difficult class, as I have the reputation of being the kind teacher, or the "safe space". Many of my students are ESL, and some of them have disabilities. Many have been through incredibly hard things. Yet we focus on the good and keep moving forward, taking care of each other, practicing kindness and sensitivity to each other and working hard to help everyone. My brightest students willingly help those with learning disabilities, creating a community where kindness comes first and anything resembling hatred or bulling is not tolerated by anyone. We work to create a culture of caring and a place where all are honored.
