My students are with various special needs. We share a classroom with another teacher and her students. Focusing my students is a challenge when they are distracted by the other teachers teaching, students answering questions and computer screens. These students deserve a quality education. Pulling them into my resource room provides them with a small group to learn, feel safe and express their opinions, concerns and ideas in a supportive environment. In the regular education classroom, these students often don't participate due to the overwhelming environment. The small group atmosphere my room provides is essential to help them develop socially and academically.
