I teach Geometry and Statistics at an all-girls urban public school in downtown Brooklyn. My students come from many different cultural backgrounds, majority young women of color. Their skill levels span a wide range and I am always seeking ways to make the learning of mathematics attainable, engaging and exciting to them. As a black, female, math teacher at an all-girls school, my role goes beyond just being a math teacher. Daily, I am a role model to my girls, showing them that it is possible to overcome stereotypes and do the things that you love.
