My students attend a large public high school in Massachusetts. Of the school's more than 900 students, nearly 80 percent come from low-income households and qualify for free or reduced price lunch. They face many other obstacles that interfere in their ability to get an education and, as a result, less than 43 percent of students at my school graduate in four years. Despite the problems they encounter, my students are truly incredible. They are smart, funny, honest, curious, insightful, and resilient. They bring an infectious energy to class every day and they deserve the very best from me as a teacher.

About my class
