The books that I have listed will allow my students to have access to different mental adventures that will broaden their basic understandings of daily life. It will grant them the opportunity to see how much diversity there is in the world that they haven't been able to familiarize themselves with. My thinking around these specific book titles is presented through a curriculum that I have used and I strongly believe could work for any type of learner. One focus that my school has is to build connections for students in how their everyday functions are related to society across the world. I am a born and bred military brat, who has had the chance to see the diverse cultures of society and I would like my students to have that same experience. For students who don't have the opportunity to see the world, what other way is there besides a good book!
