My Pre-K students must qualify for the program in one of two ways. They must be a second language learner or from a low income family. I have 20 in the morning and 14 in the afternoon. We also have children visit us from the PPCD program for children with various disabilities. The vast majority of the students at the public elementary school in which I work, qualify for free or reduced lunch. It is in a high poverty area and our students face many stressful home challenges. Our school provides safety and security in a world of chaos.
