My third through fifth grade students who struggle due to not feeling successful from past events often do not have as many feelings of successes in learning or some life events due to negative self thoughts/beliefs. They need to gain the foundational skills to learn to effectively face challenges head on while keeping true to who they are as individuals. Many students have learning difficulties or life events which leave them feeling that they have no control, and this negative self belief/fear of failure keeps them from working to the best of their abilities. Learning to gain control of their emotions, thoughts, and basic steps to lessen stress while facing challenges will positively set foundational skills the students can utilize for life, helping to develop our strategic leaders and thinkers of our future.
