The students attending this school are a part of a District 75 school. Each class is self-contained, meaning they remain in the same room with the same students and one teacher for the majority of every school day. This year, that is about to change. Our school is undergoing major changes to make the students feel as though they are a part of a less restrictive environment, similar to general education schools. Students will now be transitioning from classroom to classroom to learn different subject areas with different teachers. As a school, we are doing everything we can to make our students feel comfortable and more integrated into society. If I had never met my 6th grade math teacher, I would not have become a teacher. If I had never met my 7th grade science teacher, I would not have pursued science in high school. Without knowing and learning from multiple teachers with different strategies and personalities, I do not think I would have gotten the fullest education possible.
