My first graders are bright, eager learners with a passion for reading. Their ability level as readers varies greatly. Some enter first grade knowing just a few sight words, others enter ready for chapter books. Stocking a library with a large supply of books across such a wide range of difficulty levels is a challenge. As a new teacher in a Title I school, I don't have a large classroom library, and teachers are not provided with a book budget to add to their collections each year. I am always looking for affordable ways to grow my library so that it reflects the love of reading I seek to instill in each of my students.
