My students will use the picture dictionaries and TIME for Kids articles to research and read about current events that meaningful to their lives. TIME for Kids magazine articles will help provide news and media in a way that is linguistically accessible for my students. Often, my students do not have the opportunity to read grade appropriate and linguistically accessible texts because of limited resources for our students. These magazines and picture dictionaries will help students research, read and write in English. Using the picture dictionaries and TIME for Kids, the students will have rich mentor texts and will create their own nonfiction texts in which they explore topics and themes that are meaningful to them.
