My students are kind, thoughtful, and funny. They are a diligent group of fifth graders who come to school ready to take on the day. Our school, Franklin Elementary, emphasizes cultural acceptance as a fundamental component to education. We want to help our students become agents of change in our communities. Students in my classroom speak a variety of different languages: Chinese, Spanish, Burmese, Vietnamese, Mien, and Khymer. Over 90% of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch. In our classroom, students embrace their own right to an education as they learn about how to help others achieve their dreams and goals.
