I have an amazing room of very diverse first grade students. They are happy children who love coming to school. They are creative children who love to talk about the things they wonder about throughout the day. I have many students learning English as a second language, students with special needs,and students at various points on the autistic spectrum. My school is located in an area of rapid growth which changed the demographic make-up almost overnight. We doubled the percentage of students receiving assistance from the free and reduced lunch program in one year. Our families work hard to support their children. I want to make sure this year is full of learning that challenges them and helps solidify a foundation of 21st century learning skills upon which they will build for years to come. I want my kids to have fun learning!
