My students come to school because their current district is failing. Here, we ask students to become leaders within their community and eventually our world. As leaders, they need to be able access multiple genres of literature as well as non-fiction books that will open their eyes and inspire them to see beyond the limitations that their community often sets on them. At YES 100% of our graduating seniors will go on to a 4 year college or university. At our campus, the vast majority of our students come in at an average of 3 grade levels behind in reading. Our goal is to not only make up for lost time, but to also push our students further in order for them to gain the competitive edge they need, like their more affluent peers. In order to do this we must make information, books and resources equally accessible, organized, and appealing.
