Our public school is made up of many different learners from many different ethnic backgrounds. Located in New York our students come from lower-middle class families. Most parents work full time and many come from single-parent homes. Our parents work just to make ends meet. My families do not have the extra money to make donations to our classroom, and as a teacher with my own children it is hard for me to buy new furniture for my classroom out of pocket. Our district does not provide the means for any funding besides text books and other learning materials. I know it would make my students and families feel special to receive new furniture that is the appropriate size for my students. They will be more engaged while working collaboratively. I can space these desks so that all of my students can easily see the board and maneuver around the classroom. My students are extremely grateful for anything they receive and our families will thank you immensely!
