I am a 5th grade teacher. I have always believed that a "hands on" approach to learning is taking a more personal interest in my students learning. As I write in this proposal you will see why these students need all the personal attention they can latch on to. The students I teach are 80 per cent latch key kids. Most of them are also being raised by a single parent or their grandparents. Our school is in a High Poverty area and the students are 100 per cent free and reduced lunches. We even serve breakfast to all our students and in the summer, we serve breakfast and lunch to the whole community who needs to eat.
