The pandemic of 2020 pushed everyone to an online platform of some sort. As a special education teacher who normally spends half of the day on the floor working with students who have a range of learning disabilities, the transition was nearly impossible. The class was normally hands-on, to say the least-we sing, play, and communicate with body language. Almost overnight, I went from teaching students, to teaching their parents to teach. I managed to provide instruction the first half of the 2020 school year using an old 2010 Apple MacBook Pro and Lenovo laptop. The school managed to provide new or fairly new laptops to all students, but funding ran out for teachers.
I need a fully functional laptop to keep connected with my special students and remain up-to-date on ways to engage them in learning. There is no money available from the school, and as a teacher, I can't afford to purchase one independently. Through various independent research, I have found some great online sources I would like to utilize with my students. Without a laptop however, they are inaccessible.
