I teach fifth grade in an urban inner city school where many of our students lack the resources to enjoy educational activities that are fun. My students are full of personality and have kind and caring hearts, this is what makes them so special to me. Being a new teacher with a limited budget makes it difficult for me to provide additional resources that would help meet their needs. While my students do like math, it is often difficult for them to stay engaged in an activity for long. They enjoy playing games as part of math centers, as a whole class and with partners. It is my hope that incorporating more games into the math curriculum will enhance their understanding and ability to make connections and apply the concepts that they have learned.
