I teach first grade in an all-girls public elementary school in Cleveland, Ohio. We are located in a city that has been hit very hard by poverty, unemployment, job-loss and home foreclosure. Most, if not all of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch. The academic abilities of the students coming to my class are very diverse. I have many students that are on Individual Education Plans and some students that are well above grade level. What my girls do have though is, a love for school and learning. They come to school every day with a smile. They make each of my days brighter!!
