We have a variety of different students, from kids who have been kicked out of multiple other school to kids who are highly gifted. It is in Downtown LA, located on a college campus. The students are all inter-city youth of color, Hispanic or African American, and 90%+ are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Kids are kids where ever you teach, but some kids have more obstacles to overcome in their lives. Many of my students have over come obstacles and labels to become successful students. A large number of my students are bilingual and at times have trouble in reading and decoding English.
