We want a room in our school where children can come to experience a sense of calm and healing from their stress. The items we have chosen will help do that. Some students need to sit quietly while others need to draw and move in safe ways. Still others need to feel things close to them. During a pandemic, sadly, hugs are not allowed. This is the purpose of weighted blankets and weighted stuffed animals. Our students experience a lot of trauma in their day to day lives---even when we are not in the middle of a pandemic. As we approach returning to school during a pandemic, we anticipate the anxiety of children will be even greater.
