I work in an area where the majority of the kids are on free or reduced lunch. Many of the parents are not able to help the kids because of the language barrier. The area is considered very dangerous. Many of our students have witnessed violence. The students try to do their best even though many of them are not able to get the kind of support that they need from home. Many of our students don't have any books. Sometimes I loan them books from our classroom library, however, they are seldom returned.
