My main objective is to provide my class with the proper materials in order to properly focus on weekly skills. These books will allow me to READ ALOUD to my students while the students are following along in their own book. As a teacher, I will be modeling fluency, expression, comprehension skills, thinking out loud, and understanding of the text in a deeper way. This ensures that the students take all of those best practices and put them into place when they are reading independently. This selection of literature will be engaging, relatable and diverse in helping my students recover from the loss of foundational skills caused by the pandemic. I can help my students, along with the help of donors, by providing them with these literature titles that will help fill the gaps of lost skills. The books I have chosen will allow me to integrate language, writing, science, social studies, social and emotional skills as well as art.
