The children that I work with are wonderful, creative, and smart. They learn new things in a multi-modal approach. These children crave input from sources other than paper and pencil tasks. In my classroom, we have many children who are unable to use the computer mouse and thus creates diminished independence skills, which we are trying so desperately to instill. Having the kindle fire will give them the opportunity to navigate the programs and apps without the help of an adult, which will thus create independence, self confidence, and help them learn in ways that are not purely paper and pencil tasks.
