I am a Physical Education teacher at a Chicago Public School. I have a diverse group of students, who thrive not only in the classroom, but on the athletic field. My students love to be active and live for competition. Our athletic program has grown significantly, adding more sports each year. Last year, I had the opportunity to introduce girls 12 inch softball to our 7th and 8th graders. Because this sport was completely new to them, my students arrived with no gloves, no bats, and no knowledge. However, as a team, we grew and began to improve our skills. This spring, I would like to introduce girls 12 inch softball to 5th and 6th grade with the intention to build solid fundamentals.
