I am a Reading Recovery teacher in a high poverty school. Every student at my school now eats free breakfast and lunch daily. Many of my students are unable to afford winter coats, field trip money or even basic school supplies. The caring teachers at my school often provide the most basic needs for our students. At the same time, we are trying to teach them to become lifelong, productive learners. Reading is one of the most important skills that they need in order to succeed. If you can read, you can do anything. I need fun and inventive ways to motivate them to read. They must be able to find and read books on their level.
