We are a high poverty school with a multitude of English Language Learners. Our school does not typically have the resources and advantages that other schools appreciate. After reading The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, which is one of only two full class sets of chapter books in our school, I realized how engrossed and excited my students were to be reading such rich literature. They were more than willing to analyze the characters and plot, as well as discuss and debate the different literary elements and moral issues. I was quite surprised at how eager they were to read everyday, and how they would groan when I said it was time to stop.

About my class
