Through the use of chapter books, our students will have the opportunity to build a love for reading. Chapter books will be used throughout the school year to help build comprehension in our students. This project will allow our students to read more than just a reading passage for a test. This will help build connections, comprehension and fluency. Our students often times don't have the opportunity to know more than what is in their community, chapter books for some of our scholars will give them something to look forward coming to school for. Please help our students build a love for reading. Through the use of these books students will be able to expand their knowledge in history. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a story that will allow students to see how history has impacted peoples lives. The entire book will be used as a unit study in which we will make connections to WWII, now and then, and social emotional learning. The Book Thief will be a project in which it will allow students to explore the endless possibilities that a book can bring them. Students will write compositions that relate to how they connect to the book.
