The goal of this project is to increase the participation from our students in the band program here at the school. I want to be able to start these students in the 4th grade and see their skills grow throughout their time here at the school, and even all the way to high school and maybe even college. Students will not only participate in band lessons here at the school, but will also have the opportunity to perform at concerts and performances both at the school and other events, such as field trips that involve performances at other locations! Playing instruments boosts brain activity and higher order thinking, encourages students to work together and communicate with one another, creates an amazing sense of achievement, and teaches responsibility of caring for an instrument, practicing at home, and following a weekly schedule for their band lessons. I want this for as many students as possible at my school, and it starts with this project. Donating an alto saxophone, book, care system, music stand, extra reeds and a neck strap will begin this journey. Alto saxophones come along with more costly repairs, rental, and overall more expensive costs due to its size and general maintenance. Due to majority of my students coming from low income communities, renting or owning an alto saxophone is the most difficult at this time. Please help our school by donating for a new alto saxophone to our program!
