Our art school attracts creative students from the metropolitan area. Our students are the most diverse group of kids in the county. We have many LGBT youth here, because they are accepted and can be themselves. Many see our school as a sanctuary as they were bullied and teased for being "different." My students are brilliant kids, who already come to school with an interest in learning. We may be an art school, but this is a high-poverty school. Many students come to school without a lunch, much less a calculator.
