The students in my classroom are eager to experience and discover the world around them. Unfortunately, our school does not have enough funds to purchase new science resources for students to use. Our current textbooks were published in the 1970's and are not aligned to current standards. Many of the readings we provide our students are a collection of resources gathered by grade level teachers. The majority of the students at our school are English Language Learners, who find it difficult to understand concepts taught solely through text. With the use of hands-on experiments and activities, students will be able to experience and observe the science topics they're learning in school. This in turn, will give students opportunities to conceptually understand new vocabulary, procedures, and concepts. Not to mention, how it will also help students become the scientists they always wanted to be!
