Our school is situated on land set aside by the government to "rehabilitate" Hawaiians as they were dispossessed of their land in the mid 19th century. It is Hawaiian Homelands. Our school population is 72% Hawaiian. We are a high poverty school. Most of the students in our small rural area are related to one another and have lived in the community for generations. These students are very creative and enjoy hands-on learning experiences. They want to document the history of our community for the future.
