I teach in an inner city school in Western New York. My fifth graders face many challenges. Most of them come from high poverty backgrounds. Over 90% qualify for free or reduced priced lunches. My class includes immigrants, and children with special needs. My science and social studies classes have activities, experiments that require documentation of their results so they can analyze their work. If I could better capture their attention, especially working with detailed pictures, charts, etc., I believe that my students would be highly motivated to learn.
