This is the era of Common Core and in the state of Maryland that means a heavy focus on students becoming College and Career Ready now! Computers and technology in general are the tools for both instruction, testing, and the modern workplace. My children benefit from the materials you are providing by giving them access in the structured environment of the classroom of computer technology. Some do not have access at home because parents cannot always afford the monthly cost of internet service. Here, there are no distractions of games, and I teach the skills they need for tomorrow's scholars. I am requesting 6 tablets to help increase student engagement in both the areas of reading and mathematics in the classroom. These tablets will be used to help with differentiation of instruction for students based on their learning needs. Students will have opportunities to use adaptive apps that will help them increasing their reading fluency, comprehension skills during guided reading/ independent reading time, listen to stories, highlighting text and making presentations. In addition math workshop will become more exciting with the use of tablets. Students will have opportunities to use various websites/apps that they currently do not have access to in aiding them to learning their basic math facts.
