My students are really into technology and they love their time on the laptops and tablets. They enjoy reading online texts, practicing their typing skills and playing fun games. But I'm looking to put a real book back into their hands. I want us to be able to gather on the carpet in a circle with our books in our laps. I want for the students to find a cozy spot around the classroom to get lost in their books. I don't want them tethered to an outlet or getting frustrated when their tablet freezes up. What I want is for my students to feel the feathery, well-thumbed pages as their finger glides across the printed words of each chapter. I also want to continue to foster their love of reading and literature. This can be accomplished when each individual student has their own copy of the book. Please help me achieve this goal for my amazing school kids.
