I would like to create a flexible seating arrangement in my classroom. Most children have a very difficult time sitting at standard desks and chairs without fidgeting around and disturbing other students. Studies show that children learn best while they are moving, yet we expect them to sit perfectly still for 6-7 hours each day and absorb all that we are trying to teach them. It doesn’t make any sense. I am asking two Active Learning Stools, a pack of Plastic Stack Stools, and four Gaiam Balance Balls. How wonderful it would be for my students to walk into our classroom every day and know that this is the best possible learning environment for them. My goal is to have a variety of seating so that we can choose what works best for each learner. My students would benefit greatly from yoga balls, wobble stools, and stools. With all of these options available to them, as well as some traditional desk seating for those who prefer it, my students and I will be able to create a learning environment in which all students can be successful.
