Our school is a high poverty, urban school located in Trenton, NJ. Our 5th grade class is full of eager learners who are hungry to have their world expanded. They devour the books we have in our classroom, and check out books from our organized, but small school library. Our city has only one library which can be difficult to reach for some. Students often recommend books to one another, and patiently wait for their turn to read. Our school budget has been cut year after year resulting in limited updated teaching resources. Obtaining enough sets of books and resources for each student has become a challenge.
